The Iowa State softball team needed to overcome a three-run deficit to beat 4-3 Thursday and pick up its first win over Nebraska on the road since 1995.

The Huskers (29-12, 6-6 Big 12) got off to a quick start as Amanda Duran hit a three-run homer in the first inning. After a rough first inning, ISU pitcher Rachel Zabriskie settled down. She didn’t up another run during the game and scattered eight hits while striking out five.

The Cyclones picked up one run in the second with a Kelsey Kidwell RBI single. ISU took the lead with a three-run third. Alex Johnson had an RBI double while Heidi Kidwell had a two-run single.

ISU (20-24, 2-8) will host Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. Saturday.
